CALCUTTA
Durable, simple, precise and nothing else. The Calcutta is for aggressive
anglers who demand the most out of their tackle. Durable - Calcutta's one-piece
die cast aluminium frame provides strength without excess weight. Pinion
gear, clutch cam, and yoke will faithfully handle the pressure of even
the most rigorous tournament fishing. Simple - Pure mechanical simplicity
is achieved with the Shimano Variable Break System. Casting functions are
simplified with the flush mounted, Quickfire 11
flush bar. It naturally positions your thumb on the spool at all times.
Precise - A feeling of incomparable smoothness and pure precision is the
result of Calcutta's aluminium componentry and three carefully placed bearings
(2 ball & 1 roller). Control is maximised and handle play is completely
eliminated by the Super Stopper anti-reverse.
Drag smoothness and reliability is enhanced by surface allowing the drag
to start smoothly, and a titanium/cotton material which widens the drag
pressure range. The new CT50 is an excellent tough as nails reel with a
small profile for added comfort. And ever since last years introduction
of the forged frame CT-250 we have heard the lefties calling for a version
of their own. Our new CT-251 is everything a southpaw could ask for. Either
way, you still get our legendary forged, corrosion- resistant frame. There
is a lot to think about when considering a new reel.Weight. Drag. Durability.Line
Capacity. This year five new models have been added to bring the total
number of Calcuttas to nine for enhancing your fishing experience. Equiped
with a non-disengaging levelwind, the new CT-700 will provide you with
a higher leval of confidence and all the performance you could ever ask
for. Also, the wide open spool on the CT-700S will give you complete line
control. For the angler seeking both thrills and diversity in a reel, there
is the CT400; perfect for lighter saltwater and heavy freshwater applications.
Also available is a non levalwind version called the CT400S. Each CT400
offers the same corrosion resistant finish found in the larger CT700's.
All the larger Calcutta's feature a one peice forged aluminium frame, Super
Stopper, clicker and Shimano's
Variable Brake System.

CHRONARCH
Chronarch is the essence of what a low profile casting reel should be -
small, manoeuvrable and incredibly smooth. Both control over backlashes
and total freespool are attained with the Shimano
Variable Brake System. Quick adjustments to the brake system are made

CORIOLIS
Our new Bantam Coriolis reel is one of the hottest looking baitcasting
reels you've ever seen. But making this reel look good was never our main
intent. Instead, our engineers focused solely on creating the simplest,
most-functional baitcasting reel ever introduced. Every surface and every
contour was sculptured to provide maximum contact with your hand. Because
more contact means more control. But perhaps more surprisingly, you'll
notice that this reel is devoid of all but the most necessary features.
Because while we certainly recognise the value of advanced technology,
we also recognise the desire by many anglers for a fine baitcasting reel
in its simplest, purest form. A form which, though simple, is certainly
not spartan. Coriolis features Quickfire 11
Clutch Bar for the ultimate in casting control, stainless steel ball bearings
for smooth casts and effortless retrieves.

BASS ONE
So many of the answers to today's problems lie in yesterday's solutions.
And so, Shimano re-introduces BASS ONE. With the original Bass One, Shimano
kept the price low but eliminated the poor quality and disappointing performance
that have historically been part of so-called "affordable tackle". The
new Bass One continues that tradition and couples it with a futuristic,
completely updated finish. Star drag, power handle,
magnetic cast control two
high performance stainless steel ball bearings, quick
fire thumb bar and friction cast control give you everything that you
need and all at a very affordable price.

BANTAM 50
Since the Bantam 50 holds up to 185 yds of 20lb. Line, has a powerful 4.6:1
gear ratio, and is built with an aluminium frame, sideplates, and spool,
it can handle big, hard fighting game fish. Because it has a profile height
of only 2.3 inches and a weight of only 357 gms, it is easy to use. For
live bait fishing, a strike alert allows anglers to fish with the clutch
disengaged. When the bait is taken, a small amount of resistance provided
by the strike alert lets the fish run without creating a backlash. The
audible clicking of the alert will let you know when they're hooked up.

CRESTFIRE
Baitcasting reels have always been known for the unsurpassed level of control
they give over the placement of a lure. The ability to thumb the spool
allows anglers to delicately land their offering exactly where they want
it. The affordable and functional Crestfire is a great entry level baitcasting
reel. Crestfire is very easy to handle. Control over backlashes is achieved
with calibrated magnetic cast
control, which can be quickly adjusted for changing lure weights and
wind conditions. The small size of the Crestfire is ideal for manoeuvring
on the cast. Crestfire is available in both right and left hand retrieves.
This is a serious reel. It is made with one ball bearing a versatile 5.0:1
gear ratio and a smooth cotton/molybdenum drag. Functional in every way.

Super Stopper
Baitcasting Reel feature
Super Stopper anti reverse system uses a one-way stainless steel roller
bearing to eliminate handle back play during a hookset. The result is a
strong anti-reverse system that helps to drive the hook home. Since the
handle won’t move backwards, there will be no time lag on the hookset.
Hooksets are firm and instantaneous. Super Stopper is found on Chronarch
and Calcutta.
Shimano
Variable Brake System
Baitcasting Reel feature
The Shimano Variable Brake System works in conjunction with the friction
cast control to prevent spool overruns, or "backlashes". The Shimano Variable
Brake System prevents backlashes that occur during the first part of a
cast. At the beginning of the cast (when spool r.p.m is highest), brake
weights swing towards the outside of the spool where they come into contact
with a stationary race built into the inside body of the reel. Friction
between the brake weights and the race slows down the speed of the spool,
preventing backlash, the brake weights loose contact with the race, insuring
"total" freespool for longer casts. The Shimano Variable Weight System
uses six separate free swinging brake weights moulded in a holder at the
end of the spool. The amount of resistance that these weights have other
spool speeds can be easily adjusted. Just open the reel sideplate and switch
the individual weights into either the "on" or "off" position. The greater
the number of weights in the "on" position, the greater the resistance
on the spool. Any number of weights may be "on" or "off" at a time, even
number combinations aren’t necessary. Found on Chronarch
and Calcutta.
QuickFire
II
Baitcasting Reel feature
The QuickFire thumb bar gives you the ability to control both the spool
and the clutch with your thumb alone. The natural hand position puts your
thumb right on the Quickfire II clutch bar. Press the bar to disengage
the spool for unparalleled casting, then turn the crank to re-engage gearing.
Found on the Chronarch, Calcutta
and Coriolis.
Power Handle
Baitcasting Reel feature
The power handle simply gives you more leverage. The longer (42mm) handle
shank is 20% longer than our previous handle shank. Soft, oversized paddle
grips provide a firm, comfortable grip. Found on Chronarch,
Calcutta and Coriolis.
Turnkey
Spool Access
Baitcasting Reel feature
On the left sideplate of the reel there is an access key. By flipping
it open and unscrewing it, the sideplate can be swung open for spool changes
and access to the Shimano Variable
Brake System. It’s quick and easy, and there is no loose parts to fall
out and get lost. Turnkey Spool Access gives you much quicker access than
conventional quick access screws. Found on the Chronarch.
Calibrated Magnetic Cast
Control
baitcasting
reel feature
Magnetic cast control serves the same function as the Shimano
Variable Brake System. An adjustable magnetic field provides braking
action to the spool. Magnetic cast control has an advantage over the Shimano
Variable Brake Weight System in that the resistance can be adjusted more
quickly, it’s disadvantage is that freespool isn’t as free. Found on Coriolis,
TX and Crestfire.
Quick
Take Down
baitcasting reel feature
On the left side plate of the reel there are a number of knurled screws.
Unscrew them until they are loose and remove the sideplate to access the
spool. The screws are "captive", they will not fall out of the sideplate.
When re-assembling, do not use tools to tighten screws. Tightening with
finger pressure is more than adequate. Found on Calcutta
and Coriolis.
Friction
Cast Control
baitcasting reel feature
Friction cast control consists of a metal plate that applies pressure
to the spool shaft. At high r.p.m., the effect is negligible. At low r.p.m.
towards the end of the cast, the friction controls overrun. The pressure
is easily adjusted via a curley knob on the side of the reel. Found on
all Shimano baitcasting
reels.
